On December 16, 1936, in a remote place called “Possum Corner” in rural South Carolina, was born a true testimony of God’s miracles and wonders. Dr. Viola Thompkins, entered the world weighing only three and one half pounds, with her praying mother and her mother’s midwife at her side. After surviving birth, she became very ill, and the doctor had no hope of her chances for survival. It was yet again, her praying mother and her abundance of faith along with the call upon Dr. Thompkins’s life by God that stated she would live and not die!
This was just the beginning of the trials and tribulations that she would face. She has attributed her many miraculous life moments to being responsible for shaping her and her many accomplishments. At the tender age of just ten years old, her heart began to leak and yet again, the doctor’s had deemed her life to be cut short, stating that she’d not survive. “One of the things that I remember most as a child hearing the doctor’s so often state that I would not make it, I would say, Did you get it from upstairs? When I would say upstairs, I was calling God the upstairs. If their decision didn’t come from good, then I did not agree. The word of God says in the book of Isaiah, whose report are you going to receive? I received the report of the Lord that I was healed no matter what went on. I was already walking in the gift of faith before I even knew it.” Stated Thompkins.
At the age eighty three, Dr. Thompkins published her first book, “From Possum Corner to Russia and Around the World.” This book is an accurate and true testimony of her life and taking God at his word. She had been faced with many adversities and tribulations, including being near death and losing her mother at the age of fifteen. In 1970, Dr. Thompkins believes that God commissioned her to go to all of his people. She became the Founder and President of To God Be All Glory Ministries Inc. She has served and ministered around the world in short term missions in twenty three countries. She has been a speaker for Women Aglow, an organization based in the U.S. and foreign fields. She has traveled to countries such as South America, Philippines, Africa, Bahamas, Jamaica, China, Russia, Trinidad and much more.
